>> So, restoring an image also installs the "problems" described above. <<

True, but if you start with imaging from start (new computer) you can that way (restoring) keep computer in pretty 'new' condition, especially if you do it as Cheeky is doing it, instead of using uninstall to just restore image back into before installation time.

I used to do this a lot many years ago. With pre Norton Disk Image. At that time we were afraid of boot sector virus. Restoring an image solved that problem.

Lately I wasn't using imaging software because of too many bad reviews of users.

But today I decided to go and buy some. What a disappointment, last two Acronis versions (11 and 11 plus) are even worse than previous one. Norton's program same. Grrr, what to do?

Well, disk space is cheap nowadays and since I'm going to to do imaging only every few months say once a quarter, I decided to download all three free imaging programs - people like them all. Whenever I will do imaging I will do it with all three programs. If I ever need to restore system at least one of those three should work: <vbg>

- Easeus Todo Backup
- Macrium Reflect
- Paragon Backup & Recovery

I think I finally have it covered lol

P.s.

Anyone knows if is easy in Win 7 to have my documents on different partition?

Would be great if I could migrate whole Users folder to another partition. Is this possible?

Why reinstall Windows when it works PERFECTLY?

Before I image, every single time, I run a cleaner to clean up temp files and junk, (not a registry cleaner) and I run spyware software so I don't image "problems."

My system works, I have all my past restored images to prove it, and a 100% stable OS, XP Pro.

I don't like registry cleaners. I have no plans on using it on any of my future computers, last time I used one was 4 years ago on the desktop. I used one about a year ago on my XP notebook, cows recommendation. But for all other computers, I have no plans on ever using a registry cleaner.

There are people in the business that don't believe a registry cleaner is beatifically, one of those people write for Windows Secrets.
