The Banks, like everyone else in the world, are trying to "maximize their profit." The major credit card people would love to make more money than they do. But they are competing against each other for the Consumer's dollar. I prefer to use my Amex card because it is the only one Costco takes, and it's easier to pay one bill a month. Some won't take it. They charge more than the others.

I don't give a damn what they charge the Retailers. That's between them and the retailers. Leave them alone to fight it out. Don't have Politicians getting involved. When I was in Business, I did 95% of my cabinets on cards. And I was very happy to have them.

What I am saying is if you force the profit out of the charge, the Bank will make it up on the consumer. This is chasing your tail.
