There is a way out. The preferred stock dividends can be paid out in preferred shares and bondholders (depositors) will be happy.

BTW, all the predictions are coming true:

* Nikkei is up sharply

* Other Asian markets are not down and slightly up. Hang Seng is up quite a bit.

* Yen is rising against dollar

* Dollar is rising against other currencies

* Euro$ futures are down, i.e., US$ interest rates are up.

But, the US Index futures are all up. It is ironical!! This could be because the Japanese have not sold US Treas massively yet, IMHO, and hence the US$ interest rates have not risen sufficiently.
