Just read summer 1996 AMAT posts:

1. reinforced my opinion that this thread, and the analysts, are lagging indicators. When the price was at 25 (remember, these are pre-split prices), opinion was about evenly divided about whether the price would be higher or lower in 6 months. The pessimists thought the price would be 15 (that's 7.50 in today's prices!). The optimists thought the price might be 35. Noone thought it would hit 108 in 12 months.

2. The only people who were buying at that time were long-term value investors, who explicitly said they didn't know and didn't care if the price went down short-term from current levels.

3. Most posters were spending most of their time discussing things that, in retrospect, were not important.

4. Dave D. is the only person still posting from that time. I wonder what happened to the rest of them.

5. The Semi BTB is gone. I miss it.
