Steven Tyler really got this thing going due to the feather introduction on Idol, as the article refers. Apparently prices went up around 19 fold or more.

I personally have used rooster pheasant feathers for my fly tying. If they weren't shot up too bad. Can't easily ty streamers from the tail feather curleyques from mallards and black mallards, not enough brownish colors and too much draft from the curl, lol.
