Bundesbank Lifts German Growth Forecasts For 2011, 2012
10-Jun-2011 (what a contrast to the US where scum, thieves and swindlers rule)

FRANKFURT -The Bundesbank Friday raised its economic growth forecasts for Germany, but cautioned that weak public finances in a number of industrialized countries pose downside risks to the rosy outlook.

"The recovery of the German economy has evolved into a broad-based upturn" and the prospects for "a lengthy period of expansion" are rising, the central bank said in a press release.

It forecast that gross domestic product will rise 3.1% in 2011 and 1.8% in 2012, in price-adjusted terms.

That marks significant upward revisions from projections published in December 2010, when the Bundesbank said GDP will expand 2.0% this year and gain 1.5% in 2012.

"Enterprises are hiring new staff and buying new equipment in preparation for a further expansion of their activities," the central bank said, noting that German unemployment will be "well below 3 million" people in 2012.
