dont like writing long term puts - have done alot in the past and learned better to do them very short term - i have stuck with month to month- the reason is they limit your upside and not your down side- if the stock goes way up all you have done is made the money you sold the put for - if the stock tanks your losses are not limited - in addition as i learned the stock got put to me 3 months in advance which caught me by suprise and margined my account to the hilt- if someone had a bunch of uncovered puts sold the last month they got killed.
