It seems unlikely that USA creditors can enforce payment given the right to bear arms and the propensity of Americans to start shooting at the drop of a hat. "I have come to collect $10 trillion from you. Stand and deliver!!" The fusillade which would be given in return would end the matter.

While I hold some US$, they are unbacked promissory notes, not really worth the paper they aren't written on. Pixels on a screen can be deleted with a click. Pixels say "USA owes Mqurice $10 trillion - please select Delete/Pay Interest forever" I'm sure the temptation to click "delete" will be politically over-powering.

So far, there has been heavy dilution, so the trend is clear.
