FWIW, Australia's national telecoms carrier (Telstra) listed on the market today at a premium of about 35% to the issue price. It will not be in the index for a couple of months, even though the appropriate weighting is about 3%. So even though the Australian index was up about 0.35% today, this would have been 1.35% if the Telstra float were taken into account.

I think the recent bearishness may be subsiding.
