I think you are mixing up what they call mini-job - this is a person that works no more than 15 hours a week and is entitled to long list of benefits. Many houswifes with children will take such a job to compliment income in their free time. It is indeed a great idea to assist those that want to work but little time over the week.

It makes a lot of sense and also cover help for the eldely and others who need a helping hand few hours a week.

As to the undercut nationalism you are very right that is why all the problems presently with helping the Greeks but on the other side of the coin the Greeks also deserve theirs as they drove themselves into this mess, and many openly hate the Germans.

Greece is a 11 million country with aspiration of an Empire. They had no business hosting the Olympic Games for example - they did it all out of nationalistic pride ignoring the steep costs and now do not want to pay for the expenses
