Total Tax Receipts excl. payroll taxes

2000 = $1,371M
2001 = $1,296M
2002 = $1,152M
2003 = $1,069M
2004 = $1,146M
2005 = $1,358M

You forgot these:

2006 = $1,719M
2007 = $1,884M
2008 = $1,813M

All of which are substantially above the amounts for the year 2000.

This is disputed. But the important point is that CLINTON CAUSED the collapse of the real estate market late in GWB's term (which he has essentially admitted).

Rubin's refusal to listen to Brooksley Born is, MORE THAN ANY OTHER THING, responsible for the economic calamity at the end of Bush's term. She saw it coming, TRIED to get them to act, and they refused. And Bill Clinton has admitted this.

It is ridiculous to claim that Bush's tax cuts had ANYTHING to do with the crash or the ensuing deficits.
