William, I can appreciate your comment about Clinton. I thought it was quite funny. As for the statement "If Iran wanted to take an offensive move against Iraq they would have done so a long time ago", I guess my arguement is that THEY DID! The two nations were at war for years and literally millions of lives were lost.

Agreed: it would be tragic for the Arabs to have Mecca destroyed, however it is very possible for a nation to be at war with Iraq, yet preserve this site of great historical significance (ie, Desert Storm,Iran vs. Iraq) . If we had closed the trap on Saddam and his (relatively speaking) elite Republican Guard, there would be nobody left to prevent Iran from marching into Baghdad. Most of Iraq's army is composed of ethnic tribesmen forced into service...and we all saw their battle lust on TV with mile-long lines of surrenderers.

SORRY for the side track, fellows. Would love to discuss this more... Always looking to learn new things.

Ted

William,

>> Clinton has been one of the weakest presidents on foreign
>> affairs and for the the lame duck president he should just
>> keep trying to put his golf game back together.

I saw him playing last week. Am I wrong or was his smile more
fake than ever before.

Paul

reu.s. butting out* Off Topic*
IMO the U.S. should butt out of all out of country entanglements, The only exception might be if a country begged for our help, but I'm not even sure about that. Since I often dont believe what the media tell me.
