It's the hard drive, damaged, not the software.

We remember.

Drives are cheap. I've seen refurbs on Newegg and Geeks for $20, PATA and SATA.

Similar to Gottfried, once every two weeks or so I pull the side cover off and basically rotate three drives through a rotation of cloning the running drive. I use Seagate's Freeagent for scheduled daily backups. If I discover a virus or hijack, I think one of the older backups will not have it. I think Gottfried says he leaves the second drive in the computer and uses his BIOS to select the boot drive.

Sometimes MSFT wants me to reactivate it online discovering a hardware change, but they haven't shut me down yet.

I've had to do a chkdsk /r one time, but Acronis was complaining during the backup process.

No, I've never backed up my running hard drive them turned around and tried to restore an image onto itself to see if it would work; it didn't for you and that's bad. I always have a running drive and two spares ready to boot at any moment, one offsite in case of unforeseen issues.

I would wager Easeus would hose your drive too if a restoration or drive failed.

What you have confidence in that works for you is what counts.

On another topic, Toshiba, today, just announced a new line of Satellite notebooks:

Toshiba intros Satellite P700 series notebooks:
bgr.com

I am looking at the 17.2 inch. How do you like your 17.2 inch? I was going to get a 15.6, but am looking at the 17 inch ones. They will be available in Canada in July.

Is it too big? Just right?
