Gwynne is so last century. Ranking countries in 2050 is a reasonable idea in one way, but it leaves out Cyberspacoids who will rule the world long before 2050, which is 40 years from now and 13 years after Peak People, and ignores reglaciation [or at least a Big Freeze] in 2020. Gwynne obviously hasn't heard of that either [he still thinks there is Global Warming and Sea Level Rise and a Tipping Point and runaway heating... big storms etc...]

A country is a community of interest. Already, the community of interest dependent on Cyberspace is measured in the millions. By 2020 there should be hundreds of millions, with hordes more dependent in substantial part if not totally on their earnings from Cyberspace. China is trying to get control of Cyberspacoids and so are others. It is not in our interests to have China rule us. Or Iran. Or NZ. Our interests conflict with those of temporal rulers.
