rumor excerpt:

>>
You won't see it at Comdex, but a Feline fan whispered from across the Atlantic that the next major splash in the sub-$1,000 PC pool will be made by IBM and AMD. The two are reportedly discussing the possibility of IBM picking up some K6 manufacturing for AMD, using its new copper chip technology to enable the K6 to reach clock speeds beyond 300MHz and bus speeds above 66MHz.

John,

The 100Mhz bus speed with AGP socket 7 motherboard by Abit is coming soon. The news was disclosed from Anand Hardware Page.
abit.com.tw

I guess that AMD will release K6-250Mhz, 266Mhz and 300Mhz soon. The K6-300Mhz on 100Mhz bus speed might carry a rating of PR363 as it might be faster than the Pentium II 363Mhz running on 66x5.5. Of course, PII 363Mhz won't be released until 2H/98.

Therefore, AMD K6-300Mhz on 100Mhz bus speed is going to be faster than any Intel processor during 1Q'98 and part of 2Q'98. The period of leadership on system performance should give AMD enough windows time to push K6-300Mhz towards every OEM.

:))

Petz - Re: ":"AMD is lowering their prices INDEPENDENT of shipping
product." + " If you say that AMD raised prices in October and now they cut them again,"

Are you OK?

I said AMD was LOWERING prices - LOWERING!

Where did I ever say they were RAISING prices?

Are you really OK?
