look at that picture, they are putting the panels over shingles. looks like they can't be used for roofing material, unless you want a leaking house and mold

Yeah, true. Why not just build them out of diamonds?

Solar shingles add 10s of thousands of dollars to a small implementation.

The problem is how do you get something that is utilitarian, ecological, cheap, and not an eyesore? It just isn't out there yet.
