Agreed... I've never believed poor lifestyle leading to early death costs the government money in the long run.

Overall, probably not. Some will end up being "expensive", but many go young and "save" money. But the mantra that healthy lifestyles would lead to lower average healthcare costs is - imo - silly. And that's what the politicians are trying to drill into us.

Taking good care of chronic diseases over longer periods of time, from a monetary point of view, will not save money. If pols want to encourage healthy lifestyles, that's fine.... but if they want to push through more laws because of presumed cost savings -- let them show the evidence. And let them show where is it written in the Constitution that it's their darn business to write such laws.
