Re: Medical cost is mostly after 65....of that I have no doubt.....BUT remember we have paid into SS since we started working at 16 (and it didn't even count till we were 21) and paid for Medicare since it was started in 1965. And our employer matched the cost...None of our generation bellyached about paying for all those younger than 65 who had all sorts of ailments caused by "youthful flings", hard drinking or drugging, and anything else that we as humans get ourselves into.

Hate to say this again, but the insurance premiums started going through the roof just about the same time as we as a country were discovering AIDS, and what the cause was.....I knew it from my business, but the charts show it as well. Plus at the same time, the hospital costs, tests, and all medical expenses started their huge rise..... (early to mid 1980's...)

You and I certainly weren't 65 or over at that time....but still we paid, and paid, and paid....

PLUS I think most of us in the country actually believed that our politicians were being fiscally smart, and investing the money they took in for Social Security.....when in fact, as we know now, they were spending it, and spent ALL of it, plus many times more....

And now....the folks younger than we are are standing by and letting our politicians allow ILLEGALS to come in to this country by the millions, and collect all types of benefits with no money into the system.

So NO.....until we as a society wise up, I don't think the older generation should take the total cost burden..... nor do I think the bureaucrats in DC need to get planks and send the old folks out to sea to die....(the Eskimos do that, or at least did, per Peter Freukin)
