sridhar, last i checked sram wa more expensive - but the basic sdram wasn't more expensive by much. maybe $1 or so higher (using the highly technical s.w.a.g. technique ;-). achilles is definitely edo and lower grade - but that seems to be the vast majority of that market.

i'm up about 15% now (but that can change significantly hourly ;-). if i figure my hourly wage following this drama, though, it is much less than i'd even want to admit. i'd have done better offering fries with that shake, if you know what i mean. but, like i say, that can change quickly - for better or worse...

mu may make my estimate of $0.11 IF they do very well in sdram and don't have sdram testing constraints. this is the bug-a-boo right now.

unfortunately, sridhar, neither you nor i will know what that answer is until after the big boys know. our BEST BET is to find out when mu meets with analysts and then infer from the direction of the stock on that day (or the day after) whether it was good news or bad.

does anybody have niles' report and do they know when he meets with mu?

tia...

btw, i went LONG AND STRONG on nfli today. still trying to buy nfliw.
take a look at that 2 year chart :-( i think they have turned the corner. at least i hope so. i just bought a lot and on full margin to boot...

Sridhar,

According to AICE (which is typically their spot prices) are as follows:

16mb DRAM is now $3.41 - 4.28

16mb SDRAM is now $4.67 - 4.83

I don't believe anyone here knows MU asp or contract prices which is a problem I struggle with.
I expect MU asp to be 10% higher than these numbers which also tracks reasonbly close with Smiths Market watch(last week average was $3.90). I am still waiting for their next three weeks for MUs quarter to arrive at a 16MB DRAM asp. For 10 weeks it is about 5.50 but will drop with last numbers I also agree with you on spot prices being inferior to MUs product but few here seems to want to acknowledge it.

Dell CPQ and GTW will be shifting to SDRAM in most of their products starting in January which will distort earnings estimates. I believe last quarter it was 80% DRAM and 20% SRAM and now it might be maybe 50-50. By January I would expect much higher.

Comments appreciated

DavidG

PS: Did not include 64MB since crossover never occured and that still may be down around 10% of production.
