I am pretty stoned but here is my response. First let's try to live in the year 2011.

Gays are born that way. So not letting them marry is exactly like not letting you marry. That is nuts. And any culture or religion that says differently is nuts.

All racism is nuts. And any cultures or religions that say differntly are nuts.

But abortion is different. One cannot say not allowing abortion or allowing abortion is nuts. It is a difficult decision cultures have to make. But it is a difficult decision, religion not withstanding.

Abortion can change from a dilemma to a problem if we get more people on eath than the earth can manage. Like China has done.

But in the US it is just a hard choice and the smart ones have said, we must allow it. And they don't like making that choice and don't do it easily.

It is the non thinkers and primitive ones who are zealots about being pro life.

<<I disagree. The major issue with race has to do with economic differences and the feelings of superiority of one race over another. Its a problem that is most endemic to the US and similar countries where the society is fairly diverse.

Gay marriage is an issue that crosses religious and cultural mores and ethos. That's the same with abortion. In most religions, gayness is an abomination against God. Same with abortion. Consequently, most cultures are motivated by religion and culture to prohibit both. White slavists tried to make black slavery a religious issue but it never gained much traction.
