Everything is A-OK at Datek Online

*SOME* web systems were down for less than 3 minutes and 29 seconds.
While I love that IBM ad, and feel that way sometimes, we didnt have time to lock the door: we got everything up too fast.

Datek Online electronic systems have been extremely reliable for quite a while, and we strive to keep it that way.

OFF TOPIC -

I agree with Morpher on both counts
1) encryptian technology is much better than people realize, and the weak link is always people themselves. There are much easier ways to get secure information than to use a supercomputer to decrypt your internet traffic.

The real purpose of encryptian is to make the effort in retreiving data much more expensive than the data is worth. If somebody were to have the computer or algorithmic abilities to crack even 40-bit encryptian, I hope they have bigger things in mind than mucking about with internet-based e-commerce.

(Datek Online of course uses the highest level of encryptian available on the internet....)

2) Scientific American has become a relatively low grade science journal. First it dropped printing equations, then it went for more and more pop-culture science, and now its a half step above Popular Science. I cancelled my subscript when i read an article about "Asbestos, that magic mineral".
