Gold is well into the media, public and enthusiasm part of the curve, with the greed part of the graph being entered.
Gold is so much into the mania phase with public greed endemic that there are even people in Silicon Investor who are buying gold and getting really excited about it. Quoting songs about "feeling good" and the like.

Investing in silicon is no longer so exciting for them. They want exciting get rich quick elements like rare earths which they haven't heard of and have no idea what they are for, or ancient naturally occurring metals with minimal or no smelting to make into baubles to poke through their nose or ear to mimic the mummified corpses on view in the British Museum which has collections of barbarian artifacts from around the world.

Let me know when your shoeshine boy is giving tips on the best gold sovereigns to stash in a sock.
