It was a tough job, but I actually felt good doing the work because I knew I was bringing justice to these kids who weren't able to defend themselves... one of my first cases was on a mother who would beat her 10 year old daughter with a machete which I found under the mother's bed when I searched the home... some of the cases were truly nightmarish, many were just unfounded complaints by a parent in the midst of a bitter divorce battle in order to gain custody of the child... one case was especially followed by the local media of a two year old child who was constantly ill with all kinds of unexplainable issues, there was great pity on the mother who spent nearly all her time in the hospital to stay with her sick child...

My Ph.D. is in Clinical Psychology, which was extremely helpful during my encounters with the subjects of my investigations... very quickly, I became suspicious of the mother upon learning of her medical background... it turned out that the mother was poisoning the child regularly to make it ill, this was her way of soliciting pity and attention in her life... it was the first documented case of Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy in the State of Florida and became a model case for investigators from then on out... there are some truly heartbreaking stories, but why re-live them...
