They've made marriage a constitutional issue and if Congress eventually approves it which seems inevitable, domestic partnerships for gays only wouldn't pass muster in the Supreme Court if they have the right to marry.

These are interesting comments about the NY same sex marriage thing. One, since the NY legislature did it democratically, there isn't as much anger as if a judge had imposed it on the state. Two, Juan Williams comments on the black community's reaction are interesting - they're back in the 50's on this, he says. This has to be why Obama is still hedging about whether to come out for it .... as a liberal he feels like he should, but as a "black" he knows he's out of touch with his "community" on it.
