For "sport", as you say. Nobody stopped and picked up the dead carcasses. The entire trip was in pursuit of a single buffalo kill. The purpose of which was to stuff (TR being himself an amateur taxidermist) and mount it on the wall at Sagamore Hill. Prior to the trip, TR remarked in a private letter that he intended to kill a bison while there is still one left to kill. He was dead serious. I'm not sure what you're so excited about. Hunting and fishing have been pleasurable activities for many Americans [certainly not me] since the nation's inception. Why can you not just leave other people alone to do WTF they want to so long as it isn't hurting YOU?
