As to laws about it, I do think there are cases where it should be required to show your face. An I.D. card with your face covered in nonsense. And the case of being in the bank, or any time when you show your ID for a reason, such as writing a check or using a cc. It's not the same as genital mutilation which I am fully for outlawing, and when it is done a baby or minor, choice of the person it's done to isn't there. They want to do when they are of age and can make their own informed decision, it's their business. And I agree that while thoughts of men on the subject matter, it's not their provence for the wearing or not wearing of it when direct issues (ie the I.D.) aren't involved. It's a discussion women need to have among themselves, especially with those who wear it because they've bought the lines men have fed them about it, so that they make their own decision. The more talk there is going on about sexual harassment across the world, the more many are seeing it doesn't help with that. Sexual harassers gonna harass and it's not a woman's job to protect those men from themselves and the burka doesn't protect a woman from them. Especially among the young women I know, when they wear wild clothes they are doing it only for themselves, they aren't much interested in what men think of it one way or the other, they aren't out on the town to mate but to enjoy themselves, but same with those who enjoy the modesty of the burka. My personal thinkin'? I can't imagine there are many women who enjoy the whole get-up. Looks quite uncomfy and most testify that it makes basic tasks rather difficult. some baggy sweats and a thick baggy t-shirt would have same effect. I know one woman who wears a head covering with a very thin veil, in a pale blue... looks kinda cool: in both looks and dealing with the weather, yet it affords her the cover that matters to her.
