>>a sport for survivalist extremists like Alex.

I'll show you survivalist extremism. Like the time I stayed in a motel in Vega, Texas (home of the singularly most awesome stack 'o jacks you've ever sunk a fork through). Well, the sheets, while free of macroscopic or articulated debris, were a tad dusty. The water glasses were not truly describable as optically clear, and the water tasted somehow...dilute. With the palette of chalcogens that makes caliche what it is today. Now I'm the sort of housecat who can tell if the local McDonald's has changed the formulation or cooking temperature of their fryers, and resent the aberration from the proper forms. I remember thinking: "This is pretty extreme. If I survive this, I'm sleeping elsewhere the next time." One thing I'll say for the folks of Vega, Texas. While they were somewhat hampered by the texture of their tap water, the degree of hospitality we received there has been unmatched anywhere we've been. And that includes some of the more scattered branches of our respective families.

Paint ball wars were a big thing for birthday parties when Ammo was around ten or twelve. THose guns could be nasty-apparently the power(?)was adjustable, and if it was higher than it should be, it left a mean bruise. I remember picking him up one Sat. after a party --this facility was an outdoor one with real trees and bushes and rocks. And there were all these men, in very serious camouflage gear and talking about tactics and it just seemed so strange to me. However, men often seem strange to me. And I'm sure, vice versa. Which is what makes it all interesting, I guess. Ammo sure did love those parties.
