Well last time out AAPL was hard to not trade since it hit those clear top pivots so well and pulled back down and did bounce as well off the bottoms too ($319's in premrkt after the reballancing ) recent off the oversold did bounce too pretty well .

Not sure how one trades anything thinking "downtrend" or "uptrend" only as they all dont go strait down . APPL did pop on earnings last time though just after GOOG got whacked down .

Suggested over on the AAPL thread that instead of cheerleading AAPL they should have sold all their AAPL stock and shorted RIMM which was as telegraphed a downtrending stock as seen in years....then rebuy AAPL with the profits if they chose, lower -->after that 'maturing bull flag" that failed . I admit too buying that $330 pivot a couple of times and after that should have listened to you ! <VBG
(those were winning trades tho)

* You'll note i was mentioning during that maturing flag several times that any touch to "$350" in that tight channel was a 100% short ...and it was . There are much better bang for the buck trades out there in a NT bottoming market to be searched out .

AAPL ...now without introducing fa in this latest rise, still don't understand why you would have described it in as being in a --> "major downtrend for months" ..

Simply pointing out then on 6/30 that AAPL had not become overbought on the cci & looked like it had farther to go with the macD positive cross and at least retake the 50ma , as many others had done ? For how else could this rally in the NDX/SPX which has retraced more than a Fib 78.6% of the
points lost from May 2 - June 16 .... have taken place ?

Was just trying to be "bullish " before and looking for oversold issues
when the 'swoon' was getting deepest ! ;o)

(Aside from ICE or the CME mentioned, even POT had retaken it's 50ma then and all have done exactly similar 12%-14% gainers off those lows...and yes agree they are all at strong pivot R now )

Note now : every time we've seen such a deep retracement over the past few years the S&P has moved on to new recovery highs but also while short term at least , there are many "overbought" issues that are the opposite of the "swoon" & present the best of low risk short trades .

Amazing strength in the TRAN XLB XLY XRT & noting the laggers... a big move today in the RTH . It's a stockpicker's market from here on out & before just tried to pick a few that were simply looking a little oversold ...AAPL before was just one .
