Talk about teaching how to fish, I'll tell you a little story about my father and me... as a small kid, we drove out to Montauk Point to go fishing for the day, we bought a fishing pole and some equipment and drove out to the Point... we rented a small row boat and rowed out to where we could drop the line, I think you could catch fluke and flounder there... anyhow, I knew how to cast and I was going to teach my father how to cast the rod... I told him to keep his thumb on the line in the reel and swing the pole around, and then when the line and the sinker were about to swing out, to let go of the line and let the line run out... he said he understood, so he put his thumb on the line in the reel and swung the pole to cast the bait, I then yelled okay, let go... well, instead of removing his thumb to let the line run out, he let go of the rod itself and flung it into the water, it sank like a rock... we had one good laugh... we just drifted the rest of the day and talked about anything and everything... that was the only time I went fishing with my Dad...<g>
