It looks like the maid was looking for a big fish and caught one a little to big. Is there any possibility of a conspiracy? Could she be being run by someone else? I don't think so. But I don't understand what her plan was, unless she thought she could get paid for dropping the charges at a later date. What was her point ?

I agree that let us not make a sainthood out of this cretin, a known wastrel and well proven pervert DSK. Mind you, IMF by itself is a evil organization and he is head of that. Only in this instance, it has a questionable story to begin with as there was a political and Wallstreet crooks plotting to get him off IMF and the sleazy Sorkozy's politics in France. -J6P So let's stop pretending DSK is "righteous". His lies contributed to costing taxpayers thousands of wasted dollars and man hours that could have been better spent pursuing actual crimes against the people of NYC. Hawk

Both the maid and DSK are guilty of making false statements and obstructing justice. They must be made to pay for those crimes. And DSK should not be treated so much as a victim, but as the liar and deceiver that he is. He should have just "manned up" and admitted that he solicited a "hummer" from the maid let's stop pretending DSK is "righteous". We live in the midst of a corruption of lies of righteous self~ perception and false propriety . Our country praises its ties to Truth & God , founded on principles of due process & assumption of innocence where one gets to confront one's accuser . You do remember the lynch mob that was ready to convict DSK before he went to trial , even before his bail hearing had finished ? After the DA's office offered up this Muslim virginal, innocent single immigrant mother to the grand jury ? The DA's office was playing with the massaging the truth & prosecuting their case with not~so subliminal messages to the press designed to weaken any defense right from the start . Could care less if this was DSK , some retired politician , you , me or a butcher from the bronx but this was a case where they found out only 2 days after this woman gave what the DA's office issued strongly of "compelling testimony" , she had taped conversation with that inmate boyfriend of her's in the AZ immigration jail indicating clearly that "she knew what he was doing & that he was rich ". Twenty-eight hours after a housekeeper at the Sofitel New York said she was sexually assaulted by Dominique Strauss-Kahn, she spoke by phone to a boyfriend in an immigration jail in Arizona. Investigators with the Manhattan district attorney’s office learned the call had been recorded and had it translated from a “unique dialect of Fulani,” a language from the woman’s native country, Guinea, according to a well-placed law enforcement official. When the conversation was translated — a job completed only this Wednesday — investigators were alarmed: “She says words to the effect of, ‘Don’t worry, this guy has a lot of money. I know what I’m doing,’ ” the official said. Its not so much to defend DSK here as it is the protestant purtitan witchunt & lynch mob mentality that we saw unfold here , when almost everyone knows there are certain "services" prolly always offered at any of the finer Hotels , if you look even slightly under the sheets and pillow cases . Hey hawk thats the way of the world and you'd think that the DA's office would have had a clue ..but no. What was even so much more hypocritical was the demonstrations of the indignant Hotel Workers protesting what exactly ? The disparity between their lives & the rich ? A chance to lash out at their low wages & the oppression of the higher classes ? Which probably tip them all extremely well at these Hotels where there's prolly hardly an incidence of a Hotel worker being abused and their economic condition was not what was on trial here. Perhaps for the ones that do offer clandestine services other than the prescribed room cleaning or luggage service , which of course everyone in the Hotel Union knows ...but do not say . More hypocrisy, even with the Hotel Workers Union not dissimilar to the DA's office , where everyone first seeks the favor and power of the press/media , first thinking of their cause , image & furthering their ends . Have news for you , they're going to have a real BIG problem now pursuing that rape case with the knowledge now she brought charges for hopes of some future financial gain ...as scooby doo says: rots of ruk. ( That head DA ---> Vance looks like he needs a little more sun in his life )
