JC: We agree again. Good fundemantals will eventually boost SGI's stock price.

However, that's where my vision skews. I'm not saying SGI can't or won't come back fundementally. I'm saying that I just don't see the fundementals reversing soon. Do you?

Obviously you see something or you wouldn't be buying SGI today.
I respect your patience and I'm very interested in hearing why you're
long SGI.

Mathon

35 million chips this year - does anyone else think that is impressive
as I do? Doesn't that (volume-wise) eat Intel's lunch??

MIPS Microprocessor Architecture to See 70 Millionth Chip Shipped

MIPS Microprocessors to Become Largest Advanced Architecture

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- The MIPS Group of Silicon Graphics, Inc. (NYSE: SGI - news) today announced that the
MIPS(R) architecture is continuing its high growth rate and expects to see the 70 millionth MIPS RISC processor ship sometime next month.
MIPS processors are manufactured by world-class semiconductor partners for a wide variety of markets and applications.

Over the last two years, the MIPS microprocessor architecture has grown by a factor of more than ten. In 1996, more than 19.2 million MIPS
processors shipped from all MIPS semiconductor licensees, making it the largest RISC architecture, and representing an increase of nearly
300 percent over 1995. This year, MIPS partners expect to ship more than 35 million processors.

''The reality of MIPS' volume shipment numbers speaks louder than marketing slogans or proclamations about the future,'' said Derek Meyer,
worldwide director of sales and marketing for the MIPS Group of Silicon Graphics. ''Through a combination of technology, partnerships and a
unique open business process, MIPS has become the best choice for advanced consumer and embedded microprocessor technology. Our
markets should eclipse the PC market in short order.''

MIPS microprocessors are manufactured and sold by: Integrated Device Technology, Inc.; LSI Logic Corporation [NYSE:LSI - news]; NEC
Corporation [Nasdaq:NIPNY - news]; NKK Corporation; Philips Semiconductors; Quantum Effect Design, Inc. (QED) and Toshiba Corporation.
These partners offer state-of-the-art manufacturing process technology and also provide custom integration, derivative design technologies and
other value-added competencies that make MIPS the world's leading RISC architecture.
