2MAR$,
The immortal Kural is one of the most succinct manual for life.Just three parts "The Virtue" (Aaram), "Wealth" (Porul) and "Love" and a total of 1330 couplets. Actually these are not exact equivalent of Tamil "Aaram", "Porul" and "Inbam". But they are close. To actually understand and enjoy the true meaning you have to have a good knowledge of Tamil (or more correctly Tamizh as there are no equivalent letter in English to pronounce the last letter of the name Tamil.). Each couplet is only seven words and their meaning and beauty of expressions are unparalleled.

<tells us being married & assuming the duties of "householder" even greater than becoming a monk ...if one can maintain ones house & marriage , be generous & not miserly, this is the greatest virtuous path of all > Indeed, such Virtuous Victorian Values are the foundations of goodness. But be frugal and not wasteful while being generous and not miserly.

Obama is worried about CO2, so flew in Air Force One to Williamsburg [200 km] - all up weight hundreds of tons designed to fly hundreds of people 10,000 km. jewishworldreview.com He could have ridden a bicycle there in nearly the same time it takes him to play another round of golf. That's wasteful and not frugal rather than generous and not miserly. Fortunately the USA is enormously wealthy and taxpayers can afford to fun such absurdity - no, wait, that was before the Golden Goose ran out of food paid for with borrowed money.

Will they kill the Goose that lays the Golden eggs? Eat their seed corn?

Beware the ides of August.
