Ted, > In truth, I would buy a Volt over a Beamer

Please let us know when you do.

Meanwhile, my Beamer is coming up to the 150K mile mark. Not too shabby.

Mine's got 55k and I just found out the rack and pinion steering is leaking oil. One thousand smackeroos to replace. Not a happy camper.

Any car made today by any manufacturer worldwide can get 250,000 miles easily. My used Ford Windstar has 180,000 and runs like a top. I like to buy USED cars that have 150,000 on them, because I KNOW I can get 100,000 miles out of them for chump change.

We've come a long way from when a VW Beetle was considered a reliable car because they didn't need a new engine for 60,000 - 80,000 miles!

Lucky.

I knew I didn't want one after my client, back in the 80s, got a new one and the dealer hit him for a thousand bucks for a 7500 mile checkup.

I'm way too cheap for that.
