FWIW...Have never allowed recommendations on my thread..BUT...if they're allowed, IMHO they should not be anonymous...like "Like" on Facebook, which allows you to see WHO likes..

definitely............."or should there be a way to view who recommended a message?"

as it stops the anonymous lynch mobs. Anyone who has been a victim of political lynch mobs where those of like beliefs are PM'd by posse leaders to hit the recommendation button or ignore button, will appreciate knowing who is assailing them. Yes, there are lynch mobs, particularly on the political threads who go around telling people who they think they should ban and try to run off the threads to stifle their freedom of speech. Posting on political threads over the years is a sure way to run up dozens even hundreds of ignore tags

;-)

The more accountable posters are, the higher quality of the posting as I see it. So having an alias attached to a recommendation is a fine idea in my book.

As far as the circuit breaker idea.....I like it, but the limit of 3 more posts after the circuit breaker seems a bit low to me. If there is significant news that is causing all the posting, suddenly being limited to 3 more posts while trying to analyze the implications could really stifle understanding.

How about this instead.....How about limiting posters to 1 post every 10 minutes. that would provide impetus for thinking through your posts.

While reading the responses to this post I had to chuckle a little bit.

In the land of anonymity...people are wanting to see who reco'd what, so that it would avoid "lynch mobs", or bring a "higher class" of postings, or even "add transparency."

This all comes from people who hide behind aliases...too funny.

And, yes....arno is NOT my real name, either.

I say leave 'em as they are....or get rid of them. They are not really recommendations, but more simply nods of the head in agreement to what was written. If I truly want to recommend a post to someone, I'll send them the link.

If BillyJoeBobWampsutter sees that I've reco'd a post...what does he know about me that would give any credence to the reco?

I'm just sayin'
