Investment threads should be lean and mean with only posts that affect investments and in my opinion comments about the Canucks or other sports stuff, weather, partisan politics (not geo-politics that affect investments) and posts on DSK don't belong on investment threads.

That doesn't sound much like a "Community". Communities are well rounded and the occasional OT during market hours or OT after market hours should be permitted. Non stock specific boards about the market/investments are in fact like clubs and friendships do evolve that go beyond the topic for which the board was created. IMHO, FWIW & WTFDIK.

IMO there is no way that newcomers are going to want to post on threads that appear to be a closed social club
