What are you doing now that's paying better than a "teachers" salary? Since the pay is Soooo bad. Surely you're making double in the private sector? BTW, what is a teachers salary in Washington State, with a Masters?

"One of the few people in my Master's program to land a teaching job after graduating just gave it up." Gee....I wonder how all the teachers in my community and all across the country manage to make it. Maybe they have learned how to live within their means.....unlike your friend.

The funny thing about daycare is that it partially negates the benefits of having two incomes in the family. So what is your friend doing now? I'm pretty sure that if teaching is his passion and his strength, he'll return to it in one form or another. Probably when the kids are more self-sustaining. Tenchusatsu
