and this works great as long as you have the perfect moderator who never lets his own bias get in the way of moderating. And there may actually be one of those people out there...someplace. But I guarantee that there are more examples of people who think they would be great moderators, but who would use their bias in their decision. And their bias might extend beyond the stock or topic to the moderators friends.

People actually make friends here. What happens when a friends is out of line? Or the friend wants you to moderate someone for their own reasons? Trust me on this, friendships will influence the decisions that moderators make.

Exactly.

Banning - and god forbid deleting posts - is totally incompatible with that.
