Not one R Congressman would dare vote against it. "Defying Congress". Won't pass the Senate, might go to Supes first, on your grounds. That's why, if O wants to use it, he needs to go to court first to cover his butt.

The national debt is primarily caused by republican "trickle-down" economics - TAX CUTS ON THE RICH, PLAIN AND SIMPLE. Anyone who wants to blame the national debt on democrats is just misinformed, or better yet stupid. The debt was stable, when adjusted for inflation, from World War II until approximately 1982, then shot up under Reagan and again under Bush I. Then it stabilized under Clinton, just to be recklessly run up again by Bush Jr. Graphs don't lie... en.wikipedia.org

Obama is bright enough to capitalize on the fact that the Republicans allowed their party to be taken over by a bunch of fiscal extremists who are willing to put the country at risk to prove some sort of point. Obama taught Constitutional Law. I think he is just giving the GOP all the rope they want. He knows his options. I just hope Obama sees clearly his advantage and is willing to push it. There is a part of Obama that is very responsible and tries to do what's best for the country......even when it means 'squashing' on his own wishes. Its this instinct to go for compromise rather than threaten the Union that so infuriates the left. For now, I think he needs to subliminate his instincts and go for broke.
