SI has unmoderated political threads; they are open sewers. If people want to go frolic in that environment, by all means let them do so. But those of us who want a certain level of civility in daily discussions should be able to keep that, just like any community social club that reserves the right to exclude disruptive would-be members. If you show up at a Lions Club meeting and stand up and scream at the main speaker that he is an ignorant traitor because you disagree with him, do you think they are going to let you stick around, much less come back? Not in the real world.
