True. Usually they have little scientific background or understanding, so they're easily manipulated by the media, oil-interests etc. That's why one hears repeated falsehoods such as "the climate is cooling", "the science is wrong", the "scientific consensus doesn't matter", "Al Gore invented this" etc. All manifestly untrue - if you read the actual science. But most of the public don't do that. They get their information from the TV or from a few political pundits. Manufacture sound-bites such as the above often appeal to such an audience - particularly if it can be contrived to push a few emotional buttons as well. So I try to keep the topic on the hard science. Don't let them get away with pretending it doesn't exist or can be wished away, make them deal in facts. Rome is going to burn to the ground, btw.
