Banning people form stock related threads generally means silencing people who have a negative view of the stock - shorts, as it were - and shorts are a vital part of the market.

Since longs way outnumber shorts, I can see why that is a valid concern. Wouldn't the simple solution to this be to have a rule that you can't do that? This can be among the general rules Brad comes up with: no cursing, no belittling, no banning for contrary opinions, no excessive repetitive posts in favor or against a stock, etc..

So there could be general rules that censure stuff that lowers the quality of thread in the name of 'free flow of information'.

And then there could be thread-specific rules that apply differently for different threads that pertain to the specific target topics and types of stocks that thread is about. The moderator should then be able to moderate the thread on that basis without Brad having to get involved except in cases of dispute.

One thing that should change on SI, right now, is all stock boards should have a *Bear* or *Bull* designation.

So if a person bashes a company on a bulls board, the moderator has the right to ban that person, hopefully the moderator will give the person a warning before a ban.
