I keep saying, when Obama came in we all knew he was facing a great depression. He had two of the greatest noble prize winners Stiglitz (most referenced economist in the world) and Krugman (forth most referenced economist), the grand old man Volker, and Roemer ready to tackle the problem and he not only didn't use them he insulted all of them.

Dised both Stiglitz and Krugman (making fun of them) and insulted both volker and roemer by putting them under summer's thumb who did not like them.

And all of them said the stimulus was too small and there would be no political will go tgo back for a second stimulus. They yelled it at the top of their lungs, and here we are.

And now Obama is actually using the right wings talking points of tax cuts.

What blows my mind is that both social security and medicare are good right now until 2025. Forget about them for now and concentrate on the economy. We have plenty of time to deal with those things. Right now we need a REDISTRIBUTION of wealth and jobs.

If Obama did nothing more than what FDR did we would be there. Instead he is voicing the right wings talking points and has we liberals standing there scrctching our heads.

It isn't he debt, or entitlement programs that is the problem, it is the massive defense spending and low taxes on the rich. Period!

And obama seems recalcitrant.

Leading Democrats in Congress have long argued they will agree to massive spending cuts only if Republicans agree to tax increases. Lately, Democrats have been floating the idea that the GOP should agree to as much as $1 trillion in revenue increases as part of the $4 trillion package. But Republicans are virtually united in opposing any tax increases, much less $1 trillion. It is almost impossible to foresee them backing down now, no matter how many sweeteners they are offered.

""In fact, what Republicans actually hope is that the Democrats will once again give in, led there by the president. ""

That is what happened last year when Obama persuaded his party to give up on tax increases on the affluent and instead continue the Bush tax cuts for everyone. Boehner's 50-50 estimate appears to rest on the chance that a similar scenario will unfold now -- that Obama will cajole his party into big-time comprom
