cardiologist to be, re Iraq: On Sunday Saddam Hussein announced that he was open to dialogue, and that he was willing to admit Americans on the inspection teams if there weren't more US inspectors than ones from other nations. In other words, equal representation. While the U.N. doesn't think Saddam should be dictating terms, this is fairly reasonable, and the US can't launch a unilateral attack on Iraq if Saddam agrees to US inspectors. So before the market even opened I knew that military action was fast becoming improbable. Sure enough, today a Clinton Admin spokesperson said that a deal may have been reached. The market responds very quickly, and that is why the market this AM took Saddam out of the "high worry" catagory.

re >sodom has them by the balls and he will likely test bill's gumption.

The only people Saddam has by the balls is his own people. We've whupped him once and we can do it again if necessary, and we will if necessary, but only if there's no other option.
