I think they're REAL problem is they have totally failed to diversify. They've made half-hearted attempts, like buying LinkSys (still routers, but low-end) and the ill-fated Flip cameras and the web-ex product. But really, is that enough?

These are, after all, highly specialized computers, and how long can you get away with charging 5x what everyone else does for the same functionality before you attract competition?

These companies just never learn. Of course, nobody ever got fired for buying Cisco, but I haven't bought one in years. I'm glad I got out of their stock years ago, too.
