Brits left a mess making sure they were ungovernable by drawing maps of countries that could not work:

Nigeria split Youruba, Hausa and Ibo
India split into Pakistan and Bangladesh
Middle East micro sheikdoms to make them need protection from the British which would get commercial advantages.
Embargoing and torpedoing Zimbabwe to make sure it does not work.
