Its why we have traffic lites. There are people who do not want to be stopped artificially by some lite. They would rather stop and go as they see fit. Nobody is debating whether government needs to be involved in these things (the federal government certainly does not, but state & local, fine). The question is whether the federal government should be micromanaging our lives. Micromanaging is telling you what to eat, where to go on your holiday, what to wear. Discouraging oil consumption because its hurting the national economy and putting us in jeopardy and at the whims of nation states in the ME is hardly micromanaging. Its doing what's best for the common good. > you all are like children and don't want limits placed on you. We're adults and we don't NEED limits placed on us. Al Gore and RFK Jr don't have -- they jet around all over the country without limitation. Why in HELL should we abide by differerent rules than THEY do? Everyone has limits placed on them. An adult recognizes that and acts accordingly. Children resist because...well, they are children.>> ts not the gov't whose telling you that hydrofracking is bad........its private groups that have sprung up because of the problems they have experienced from hydrofracking To be fair, Obama isn't the problem with fracking, others within government are (mostly at state/local levels). But this is a perfect example of Obama's failure to lead on this issue. Look. He's human. He took over the gov't when the economy was in the worst possible shape since the Depression. He is a president that has had more earth shaking matters on his plate than carters has pills. Have you looked at the dude lately........he is aged dramatically. This country is hell to manage. Besides, you are not the first to complain he isn't pushing NG enough but despite what you think, there is considerable controversy surrounding hydrofracking. I have seen people living near a hydrofracking site lite the gas coming out of their faucets. People swear its not a parlor trick. I would rather we be cautious than foolhardy when it comes to this resource. And just so you know, nothing would make me happier than to prove that hydrofracking is benign. Why? Because we have enough NG to make us significantly energy independent and it would benefit states that need economic help. So I am all for it if its not dangerous to the environment.Fracking has been shown to be safe. There isn't any doubt about it. The Left got all ginned up about it based on the Michael-Moore-styled documentary Gasland, which was chocked full off lies and misleading propaganda. BS. I am from the left and am all for hydrofracking so long as it doesn't contaminate our ground water. NY state is studying the issue intensely while PA has jumped into hydrofracking with both feet. If NY comes out with a clean bill of health, I am all for hydrofracking. Why hasn't Obama come out and said, "Fracking is a SOLUTION to our foreign oil dependence"? Why hasn't the administration EMBRACED this proven technology rather than embracing it from a distance (we want to drill for gas, but no mention that fracking is key to the process -- because it will piss off his uninformed liberal base). We need leadership, not politics and spinelessness. From what I am hearing, he is getting pushed on this issue. BTW is their NG laden shale in Arkansas? Hadn't heard that but you seem very interested.
