Such as the assumption that newspapers abroad are more liberal than the ones here. You're just looking at Europe, which in general is more liberal than America. I guarantee you that's not the case in Asia and the Middle East. I was only talking of UK papers. I don't know any other language well enough to discern a newspaper's ideology. Do you?Sure, America is a center-right nation, but most of the mainstream newspapers here lean left. They don't.....not on policy issues. That's what you all want everyone to believe but its not true. American newspapers may tout product innovation which is more a progressive cornerstone but when it comes to social/cultural issues like gay marriage, they are hardly supportive and work very hard to take a neutral stance when they are not out and out condemning it. Same with abortion and all the other socials issues that have the left and the right divided. That has many, many roots dating back to the muckraking days of the Industrial Revolution. Even in academia, journalism majors lean left for the same reason why business majors lean right. It's just a value system. Not all of academia leans left either. Kupyuk [spelling], the guy whose study you touted yesterday is from the South, went to southern universities and works at VA Tech. I bet ten to one he's not a liberal, given his background. Sure the majority of professors are liberals......I will give you that......but there is a sizable minority who vote right....I have a cousin who is one of them. If the media in this country were truly liberal, it would be reflected in the broader population. The fact that it isn't suggests you're whistling dixie on this issue.
