Obama should step forward and embrace the McConnell deal as quickly as he can, then issue a clear statement about how grown-up financial management is essential for the well-being of the country, and that's what political leaders are here for. He gets to raise the ceiling and proceed with his spending reduction blueprint regardless what Congress thinks, a win-win.

And in return, McConnell gets to whine helplessly a few times before the 2012 vote, which he does incessantly anyway.

Sounds like a sweet deal. A clear contrast of who can govern and who is lost in the theological woods.

And then we have this one from a rival faction within the Republican Party. Wonder who should Obama deal with?
