What a bummer ..... Price has run up too far ...

Dividend investing leads to a different mindset for sure. What a problem to have.

Marathon did this splitting of upstream and downstream first. Now COP. I'm sure all the integrated companies are looking at this. Seems like a trend may be starting.

I would not be surprised to see Chevron (CVX) do the same thing.

I'm happy with COP's decision. As with MRO, the stock will trade at
a discount to break up value and I'll use options to harvest the spread.

It maybe that COP and MRO doing this to rid themselves of refining and marketing which is volatile business and subject to lots of toxic waste liability. Also as an IOPC, the E and Portion would get the depletion allowance so their are tax consequencews.
