Victor Links with SGI Cray on Video Server Systems ÿ 11/14/97 Comline Daily News Telecommunications COMLINE NEWS SERVICE (Copyright 1997) ÿ Victor Co. of Japan {6792} revealed Tuesday that it had reached agreement with SGI Cray to cooperate on video server system sales and technical development. No timetable has been made public for sales of new products. Victor seeks to develop its systems business for broadcasting devices. It will put more resources into its transmission division which has previously had few products, pursuing in-house development as well as cooperative development with US company DIVICOM. The new partnership with SGI Cray has helped it achieve a number of its goals. Victor's vice president of its systems business division says the company aims to propose a comprehensive system from photography to editing and transmission. The SGI Cray pact is particularly significant to the systems business. The two companies will jointly pursue sales and development for next- generation digital network systems.
